Course Description
For the next five weeks, we will concentrate on techniques and strategies that will help us approach the human figure. The aim of the course tackles principles and concepts of painting for those interested in rendering the figure with or without experience. During the five weeks working strictly from images of models, we will learn to unlearn, improvise and solve the problems ahead in a very personal fashion.
Course Outline
Week 1: Intro to Figure Painting, proportions and drawing the figure.
Week 2: Blocking in the figure, limited palettes and temperature
Week 3: Color and Figure
Week 4: Odd colors and texture
Week 5: Exploring the portrait
Course Materials
I will be working with oil paint. The student is not obligated to use oil paint. The principles discussed in class apply to most painting mediums.

Permanent Alizarin Crimson
Transparent Iron Oxide Red
