Workshop Description
In this workshop, you’ll learn about my approach to painting children using oil paints. Each week we will refer to a different photo reference (using a range of ages and skin tones) and I will explain (from start to finish) my process of sensitively portraying the unique features of a younger face. I will work on a full colour oil portrait demonstration each week and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
Workshop Outline
Week 1 - In the first week of the Workshop, the focus will be on drawing and composition - but I will also explain in detail about my method of pre-mixing skin-tone values.
Week 2 - In the second week, we will focus on brushwork - partly to analyse how to capture graduated values and partly in order to optimise the quality of mark-making.
Week 3 - The focus throughout the course will be on using colour expressively, but, in the final week, I will be really pushing the vibrancy of the portrait painting process.
