Course Description
This course is a Study the basics to paint from binocularity with strategies for still life setups. We look back at Matisse, Cezanne and Golden Age Dutch paintings for binocularity clues. Painting projects include concepts of concave and convex form, double buckle framing of space, and plasticity in differentiation of space between objects.
Course Outline
Week 1 -
Simple two object vertical setup for a Black and white value study: Matisse’s Double Buckle.
Week 2 -
A Primary color study of the setup with added objects: Cezanne’s Convex - Concave form.
Week 3 -
Two level still life setup in full color: Ideas from Golden Age Dutch Still Life.
Week 4 -
Three stage space still life to study head turning: Horizontal Pictorial Construction Parallax.
Week 5 -
Tipping objects to complement head tipping approaches: Vertical Simultaneity
Course Materials List
Oil paint set of black and white, cyan blue, magenta, yellow, red, green, blue
A variety of brushes.
Odorless Paint thinner.
Fast Drying medium.
