Course Description
Develop your skills in composing paintings with a clear visual concept. Plan your artwork effectively using sketches, thumbnails, and value studies. Additionally, delve into the world of color mixing and understand the nuances of values. Embrace abstraction by keeping your paintings open-ended for as long as possible. Learn how to make beautiful brush strokes and create a painterly painting that reflects your artistic expression. Refine your techniques and unleash your creativity in this comprehensive class. The instructor will supply 3 images to paint from. Students may paint from their own pictures however they must be pre-approved by the instructor.
Course Outline
Week 1 -
Slide Show - Introduction.
Drawing excercises.
Draw thumbnails, value studies, and watercolors, from 3 different thumbnails, value studies, and watercolors from 3 different pictures.
If we have time we will start one of the color and value studies in oil. 5 x 7 from one of the pictues.
Week 2 -
Finish the color studies of the other 3 pictures in oil. 5 x 7.
The instructor will critique the students drawings and color studies.
The instructor will help in selecting the final subject for painting.
Week 3 -
Start demo from one of the pictures.
Week 4 -
Continue painting.
Crituqe of students work.
