Lecture Recording Description

Disaster, Promise, and Native Wildflowers in Philadelphia and Beyond.

Jeff will share practical strategies and the deeper meaning of gardening with native plants. Topics include: Perspectives on “plant blindness”, the myth of the green thumb, the history of the Philadelphia region's damaged ecology, efforts to heal, and the importance of gardening for Them (birds, butterflies, bees, moths) to honor the web of connections that our life and all planetary life depends upon.

Attendees will be given plant lists, a package of inspiring readings, and the right mental approach for getting started at home or in your neighborhood. Clear guidance about resources (nurseries, websites, area gardens, education options) are part of the talk, as well as strategies for land-preservation. All attendees will also receive a free ticket to the 2024 Garden Concert Series* at the Emerald Wildflower Garden.
