Course Description

Working the landscape in an abstract way, using your imagination and instinct is a very good way to express yourself and let your intuitive mind speak.

Course Outline

Week 1 - Choosing a Photo

How to choose photo or a document (or several).

Studying the lines, guiding lines, horizon, structure.

Analyzing the lights, shadows, depth, mood etc.

Choose the brushes, preparing the palette: warm, cool and grey colors.

Week 2 - The First Steps

How to create the grey palette, mixing the colors.

Drawing on the canvas.

Starting the firsts layers.

Week 3 - Continuing the Painting

At this step, we will continue to paint over the firsts layers, using thick and fluid paint, erasing with rags, letting the imagination grow. There a risk that we won’t take the right way, but it’s also important to know how to react when its “going wrong.” As for example find new elements, turn the painting up side down etc.

This part is about installing for good the mood of the painting.

Week 4 - Ending a Painting

Now it’s the moment to ordinate the elements, find an harmonious light and balance of colors. During all the process, i will take some time to show you my studio, how i varnish, what material i use, which supports etc.
