Workshop Description

In this workshop we will learn to paint two different sort of water reflections and the basic knowledges to paint these kind of subjects. Loads of pigment into the brush and differences with he amount of water into the paper. Combinations between brush loads and paper states.

Workshop Outline

Each exercise will be completly explained by the teacher.

Week 1 -

Introduction:

- Presentation and explanation of all the materials: easel, colors, paper and brushes.

Week 2 -

First exercise to practice a big wash wit degraded: Landscape with calm water, puddles or lakes.

Week 3 -

Second exercise: Landscape with water in movement to learn to make waves.

Workshop Materials List

Paper: It is the most important part to take advantage of the workshop, I recommend 100% cotton paper, 140lbs, and rough surface. Arches and Saunders Waterford are the most advisable. With 2 full sheets of paper is enough.

Brushes:

1 “Petit gris type” brush (medium) I use Escoda Ultimo or Aquario brush numbrer 10 or 12

1 pointed synthetic brushes (medium) I use Escoda Perla number 14 or 12,

1 “Hake” brush, I use Escoda Ultimo flat brush number 12 or 15.

1 rigger brush, I use Ecoda Chronos number 2

Colors: Preferably in tube. All the colors I am going to use are in my Daniel Smith Set, the essential are:

Lavander, UIltramarine Blue, Indigo, Cerulean Blue Chromium , Sepia, Opera Pink, Transparent Red Oxide, Hansa Yellow Medium, Titanium White, Phtalo Green (BS), Perylene Violet and Mars Yellow. Every similar color to these ones is welcome. I use also some colors from other brands like Blue Grey (Shin Han), Cadmium Orange (White Nights) and Jaune Brillant 1 and 2 (Holbein).

Watercolor palette, I use a metalic one, it is better than plastic ones.

The usual accessory materials: tape, board to fix the paper, spray, little water container, pencil, rule,…
