Using her paintings and sculptures as examples, Hobbs covers her wide-ranging influences including archeological artifacts, art historical works, contemporary art influences, literature, mythology and current events. Through her background in anthropology, Hobbs sees art as material culture that reflects the values of a person or group within a specific time and place.
In this way, artists and their works are always a part of a network of ideas that can be harnessed for inspiration and connection.
